MERVENT FOREST
The Mervent-Vouvant forest, mainly composed of oaks, extends over 5000 hectares. In the heart of the forest, the Mervent dam forms a beautiful and vast lake. Numerous sports activities are available in Mervent-Vouvant forest, such as hiking, riding, mountain biking, and many water activities.

The forest has been laid out with over 200 kilometres of well marked footpaths and offers some of the best walks to be found anywhere in the Vendée. The local tourist office has plans of all of these walks together with distances and their degree of difficulty. There are also trails marked out for mountain biking and horse riding. The forest rises steeply from the banks of the lakes and affords stunning views and in several places you can get dramatic panoramic views over the canopy of trees to the lakes and the river below.

The Base Nautique which is located on the Lake at Mervent offers various types of boats for hire as well being a school of sailing. Also available for hire are mountain bikes which are an ideal way of exploring the Mervent Forest and they also have available instructors for rock climbing at the nearby Pierre Blanc.
Discovering the lakes and the forest by boat is one of the most enjoyable ways of seeing these most beautiful of landscapes, just relax and take in the sights and smells of the forest. It is a truly unforgettable experience.

La forêt de Mervent, composé principalement des chênes, étend sur 5000 hectares. Au coeur de la forêt, le barrage de Mervent forme un beau et vaste lac. Des nombreuses activités sont disponibles dans la forêt de Mervent, comme la randonnée, l'équitation, VTT et de nombreuses activités nautiques.
La forêt a été aménagé avec plus de 200 kilomètres de sentiers, L'office du tourisme a des plans de tous ces promenades avec les distances et leur degré de difficulté. Il y a aussi des sentiers pour le VTT et l'équitation.
La Base Nautique est situé sur le lac à Mervent et propose des activités nautiques.
Aussi disponible en location sont des vélos VTT.
